My name is Ashlee Kennedy, I am 38 and am a photographer based in North East England.
I use photography as a medium because it allows me to capture and freeze a single moment in time, preserving it for eternity. Through photography, I am able to tell stories, evoke emotions, and convey concepts without the need for words. It grants me the ability to bring attention to the unnoticed beauty of everyday life and share my unique perspective with the world.
Photography is a new found love of mine and I have only begun to peruse and experiment with this very recently. I like to be outdoors, I like to walk and listen to natural sounds, the wind, birds etc. I find it very calming and soothing. I am and always have been attracted to colours, scenery and nature. I am particularly interested in the contrast between man made nature and natural nature.
Hidden beauty lies tucked away in the nooks and crannies of nature, awaiting curious eyes to unveil its splendour. To find it, immerse yourself in the wilderness, explore dense forests, and marvel at intricate patterns in leaves and petals, revealing the artistry of the natural world. Similarly, in man-made structures, hidden beauty emerges when we pause to appreciate the intricate details of architecture, discovering the craftsmanship and artistic expressions woven into the buildings that surround us. Look beyond the obvious, and you'll be rewarded with the exquisite allure that lies beneath the surface.
Incorporating current events and local issues into my work is crucial because I believe art has the power to shed light on important societal matters. By using my creative expression, I can raise awareness, provoke thought, and encourage dialogue around these issues. Through my work, I aim to offer a visual representation and interpretation of the world around me, focusing on the pressing concerns that affect my community and the wider world.
The following images highlight my local area, including iconic man made landmarks, nature, wildlife and history.
